The Jewish community has existed in Thessaloniki since Roman times but they became well established in the 15th century, when the first Sephardic Jews arrived at the city. They strongly contributed to the change and development of the city. Walk through the neighborhoods where the Jewish used to live and discover the marks they left on the city, their customs, their habits and professions before World War II irreparably hurt this great community. Today, only a small group of Jewish has remained in Thessaloniki trying to keep their traditions alive.
