The shop window of the Excelsior on Mitropoleos str. has been made available to both emerging and renowned fashion designers, as a means of expression and promotion of their work. The well-known designer Achilleas Taktikos, in collaboration with the Syllogos Ekpaidefseos Neanidon, curated the first shop window that is already grabbing the attention of passers-by. The first dress on display emerged as the winner of an online competition and was inspired by The Excelsior’s history and its values of sustainability. The end result was an elegant dress created by the hotel’s used fabrics from the hotel archive.
The public areas of the hotel have been decorated with artwork by Spyros Halaris and soon there will be smart decorative items and accessories with the artist’s signature for sale. Halaris, based in New York, has worked with major brands (Tom Ford, Salvatore Ferragamo, Sephora, Shiseido, Harrods), as well as newspapers and magazines (Vogue, Sunday Times, L'Officiel) in a variety of applications such as advertising, illustrations, showcase design, product packaging. In the mezzanine of The Excelsior, a dynamic library with fashion titles from the largest publishing houses in the world, such as Assouline, Gestalten, Thames & Hudson, Rizzoli, Phaidon, along with international and Greek magazines, offer visitors a colorful window into the world of Haute Couture. The same space will host from September 2022 various related workshops, as well as screenings of documentaries and films inspired by the fashion world.
In collaboration with experienced city stylists, The Excelsior offers guests a personal guide to the Thessaloniki's shops, with an emphasis on small boutiques and rare or vintage pieces, as well as smart choices in designer stores.
